I think it's one of the nicest facilities for young horses, with so many training options and good weather. The whole layout is terrific, starting with the one-mile track. It's well maintained, has a good base and just the right amount of cushion. And then you've got the 5/8 mile sand track and the 7/8 mile turf track. Some horses do better on turf, and this is a place where you can find that out. There's a lot of things you can do with the horse every day rather than following the same routine all the time. "Camden Training Center is a very well-maintained operation. "The center and the town are very special to me. I've been coming here for over 20 years and now it is my home. For many of us, this attachment translates to a great environment for teaching, growing and producing athletes and winners! We had Regal Engagement, winner of the Black Eyed Susan, and Cosmonaut, a multiple Grade 3 winner and now the earner of over a million dollars. Right now, our niche seems to be developing the horse that wins his share at allowance levels and does so consistently for a few years. Many horses come back to us every year for a break and reconditioning. The 'big' horse will come; it's not a matter of if but when. This is a game of patience, though ironically we race 2 yr olds. Camden epitomizes patience."
